How To Improve Your Mental Health
One of the most feared symptoms of old age is lack of memory. Actually, people just sit around and watch TV, living a sedentary life, or do normal day tasks which are all combined in the same usual routine and bring nothing new.
It is very important to have a constant mental activity like solving problems, learning new stuff, participating in activities or playing board games. During the whole life, human beings learn to talk, walk, think, write, etc, and then it stops the learning process.
In approximately 20 years we have learned all that matters to live our lives and the majority of people stop here. This is the big problem, because the brain is like a muscle: if you exercise it, it will develop. And the more you exercise it, the faster and accurate the mental process will be.
Since we develop it from our birth day to our middle twenty’s, the rest of our life we live with the same capacity, and since we don’t exercise like before, slowly it begins to lose its strength, especially on older age.
There are memory games to help remember faces, for example. This helps to record the information on the mind and recall it later. It can be used through repetition until it is stored or it can be used some kind of mnemonic to help associate with the desired memory. The more insistent this technique is used the better the results, because this is a long term process.
The best way to do it is to have fun playing the games and this will help to motivate as you can use photos of known people or telephone numbers or even birth dates or other special dates.
Did you know that 80% of people don’t do anything concerning their mental health?
Don’t forget that our state of mind defines what we do, how we do, what we say, what we think and what we feel, so make sure you always have a clear mind!
